We have added a quick summary and a guide of the tools below. Just follow the relevant link for more information and an access to the tool. In case you need help in utilising the tools, don’t hesitate to contact CLEANaS! We are more than happy to help you to increase renewable energy production!
Site Suitability Toolkit
The tool is suitable for a detailed site assessment of a small to medium sized PV installation in NSW Australia (e.g. residential or small business as well as community groups). It needs input of detailed hourly consumption data, which should be available from the power supplier, but may be challenging to obtain. It will provide more accurate estimation of the produced power than what some of the commercial solar providers would offer as part of their system size optimisation and hence can help estimate the risks of the project.
Financial Analysis Model
The tool helps you to assess financial viability of a project. It is useful to use in conjunction with the site suitability tool.
Metering and Communication Systems Options Analysis Report
The document provides information on the alternatives for measuring energy production and for making this information available.
Development Documents
These model documents can be used when applying for planning approval from Local Government. The standard documents have been tailored to the Local Governments of: Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens. They could be used as template documents for other councils, but specific requirements for that council would need to be considered.
SDPPA - Solar Development and Power Purchase Agreement
The model agreement is suitable for a project, in which the installation investment is made by different party than who uses the electricity. It focuses on a case where the user pays the investor for the produced electricity, but it can also be used as a starting point for drafting an agreement for simpler case of a recurring lump sum payment (effectively leasing the panels). SDPPA is applicable in the NSW area.
Corporate Structure and Documents
The document provides information about various alternative corporate structures that can be used in a solar project in which the installation investment is made by different party than who uses the electricity. The current NSW regulations make it challenging to apply community funding to a medium size project (70 - 100 kW) and it is advisable to check the development in the regulations regarding crowdfunding and managing investment products before making decisions on the matter.
Investment Prospectus / Information Memorandum
The document is required if more than 20 investors are involved. Developing an investment prospectus may be a costly matter involving legal input and advice. This is a sample document which would need considerable legal input before being issued.
